After our recent shoot for our ‘To be beside the seaside’ Baked Blossom Collection at beautiful Hengistbury Head, we thought why not give you an insight to our beautiful home Dorset, and ask The Happy Blossoms Team their favourite places to visit and why… this was not an easy choice for anyone to make!
Dorset, we believe makes a happy home with its miles and miles (nearly 100 miles in fact) of sandy beaches, picture postcard villages and over half the county is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. No one can deny that Dorset is truly something special.
The Jurassic Coast is the only natural World Heritage Site in England, and Dorset also boasts 5 country parks too. Along with Dorset scrummy food and drink! What’s not to fall in love with?
Introducing THB Team's favourite places to visit…..
Emma - Old Harry Rocks - At the southern end of Studland Bay is one of the most famous landmarks on the South Coast. The name Old Harry actually refers to the single stack of chalk standing furthest out to sea.
“It’s peaceful, tranquil and has beautiful wild beauty.”
Katy - Mudeford - Overlooking the entrance to Christchurch Harbour in Dorset, Mudeford is a sleepy fishing village with great charm and history.
“The beach is the perfect place to sunbathe and have a dip in the sea. Mudeford is also dog friendly and this makes me super happy seeing all the happy dogs.”
Beth - Hengistbury Head - Hengistbury Head is a scenic and historic headland near the town of Bournemouth on the south coast of England.
“The beach is really pretty and the sea is really crystal clear. The walks around Hengistbury head are really fun.”
Faith - West Bay - shingle beach backed by magnificent sandstone cliffs. The scenery is truly spectacular here, the golden cliffs rise 50m vertically above the beach and the views towards Chesil Beach and Portland will take your breath away.
“Really clear sea, chunky sand which is the comfiest to sit on. I had the best afternoon tea here! Little fact… Broadchurch was filmed there too.”
Ray - Shell Bay Studland - A glorious slice of natural coastline in Purbeck featuring a four-mile stretch of golden, sandy beach, with gently shelving bathing waters and views of Old Harry Rocks and the Isle of Wight.
“Where my boat is docked all year round, so it’s a special place for me and I visit often and enjoy the sea.”
Chloe - Lulworth Cove - A beautiful secluded pocket of the Jurassic Coast. The pebble beach and blue waters of Lulworth Cove make it an extremely popular destination.
“Lulworth cove is a very special place as it’s where I got engaged! it’s beautiful all year round and a great spot for a day out! It’s so picturesque!”
Hannah - Chapmans Pool - A remote but beautiful cove, in the depths of the Isle of Purbeck. One of the best things about Chapman’s Pool is that there probably won’t be that many others around.
“Great walk along the cliffs with just beautiful views. A hidden treasure”
Hannah - Kingston Lacy - Kingston Lacy is the heart of the ‘richest ever gift’ to the National Trust. The 8,500-acre estate is the best place to explore whatever season!
“Beautiful house, amazing place. I especially love it when the snowdrops and bluebells are out at different seasons. It’s so lovely all year round.”
Barbara - Sandbanks - With its soft golden sands and breathtaking views, it is no wonder that Sandbanks is considered one of Britain's best beaches.
“My favourite time of the year to visit Sandbanks is in the winter when the waves are crashing and the beaches are quiet.”
Lauren - Kimmeridge - Kimmeridge Bay is located within a marine Special Area of Conservation and has the best rock-pooling and safest snorkeling site in Dorset! It is also part of the Jurassic Coast.
“I absolutely love the rock pooling at Kimmeridge which makes it different from the rest of the beaches. I also love the beautiful views. “
We hope you have enjoyed finding out our favourite places to visit in Dorset and perhaps this will help you guys if you ever visit beautiful sunny Dorset.
